If you’re having trouble signing in to your ModernAdvisor account, this guide walks you through the most common issues and how to resolve them quickly.

Resetting Your Password

If you’ve forgotten your password:

  1. Open a web browser and visit:
    https://app.modernadvisor.ca/signin
    (Password reset is not supported in the mobile app.)

  2. Click “Forgot your password?”

  3. Enter your email address.

  4. Follow the instructions in the password reset email you receive.

If you don’t see the email:

  • Check your junk/spam folder.

  • Ensure you’re using the email address you registered during onboarding.


Unlocking a Locked Account

If your account becomes locked after multiple unsuccessful login attempts:

  • You will automatically receive an email with the subject:
    “Account Unlock Instructions”

  • Click the “Unlock My Account” button in that email.

  • Follow the prompts to regain access.

If you do not see this email, check your junk/spam folder.


Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) Issues

ModernAdvisor uses Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) for added security. After entering your password, you’ll receive a verification code via SMS or phone call, or via the authenticator app.

Not Receiving Your 2FA Code?

  • Codes are typically delivered immediately.

  • If delayed, this is usually related to your mobile service provider.

  • Unfortunately, support cannot manually send 2FA codes.

  • Wait a few minutes and try again.

Important Tips:

  • Do not close or refresh your browser while waiting for the code.

  • Keep the login page open.

  • If possible, receive the SMS on one device while keeping the login page open on another.

  • The code does not expire immediately — you should have sufficient time to enter it.


No Longer Have Access to Your 2FA Device?

If you’ve changed phone numbers or no longer have access to your 2FA device, you’ll need to complete a secure identity verification process before regaining access. Follow these steps to securely verify your identity and regain access to your account.

Please contact support@modernadvisor.ca for assistance if you are not able to complete this. We may need to arrange a phone call to confirm identity.


What Is Two-Factor Authentication (2FA)?

Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) is an added layer of security that protects your account. It requires:

  1. Something you know (your password), and

  2. Something you have (a one-time code sent to your phone)

This helps prevent unauthorized access even if someone obtains your password.


Internal Server Error Message

If you see an “Internal Server Error” during login, it may mean your email address has not yet been confirmed.

To resolve this:

  • Check your inbox for an email from support@modernadvisor.ca

  • Open the message and click “Confirm your Email Address”

  • Once confirmed, return to the login page and sign in again
